OVERVIEW
C & E, the gals behind @canwegoreadnow, wanted artwork that presented a cohesive brand for their growing bookstagram page. They wanted artwork for a profile photo and highlight reels that reflected their style and gave the page a more professional look for their followers.
ILLUSTRATION INSPIRATION
While the clients wanted to remain anonymous to their followers, they also wanted a profile photo that gave off a more humanized feel and let their followers know it was 2 girls running the account who love books (and wine!). An illustrated version of an existing photo of them was the perfect way to achieve this. The clients provided a few photos for me to work with and base the illustration off of, as well as some inspiration photos (shown below) of the style they were looking for.

COLOR PALETTE
The clients wanted a color palette with peach + burnt orange hues, which was also reflected in the inspiration photos they provided above. I chose the 5 colors below as the main colors to use throughout the Illustration and highlight reel icons, adding in some secondary colors in varying shades for details in things like their hair, skin, and clothing.
HIGHLIGHT REEL ICONS
In addition to the profile photo, the clients also wanted 5 highlight reels for the following categories: recs + tips, five ⭐️ reads, book mail, templates, and a 2021 reading challenge. They provided direction on what icon they wanted each highlight reel to be, and I created the illustrations in Procreate using the defined color palette above to tie in with the main illustration.
