OVERVIEW
Minted, a marketplace of independent creatives, wanted to encourage followers who had not yet registered to vote in the 2020 election. Their social team asked me to create artwork for 10 frames of an instagram carousel with upcoming state voting registration deadlines, as well as email designs to send to customers living in these 9 states with upcoming deadlines.
This project was proposed & executed on an extremely tight timeline (talk about ~8 hours!) but it was a lot of fun to work on and was a great way to increase voting registration.
ILLUSTRATIONS
The team gave very little creative direction on what they wanted each of these slides to look like, which was both nerve-wracking and exciting. I chose to lean into my handlettering skills and create something both playful and eye-catching that would draw in any followers quickly scrolling through their instagram feed.
COLOR PALETTE
The social team provided me with some inspiration color palette ideas, all with warm orange + yellow + peach hues. I worked with these as a starting point, slightly adjusting colors for contrast throughout the carousel and individual illustrations. I also added in a few darker colors as accent colors in the overall palette for various detail work to ensure all text was legible.
FINAL ASSETS
I created artwork for a title slide + the following 9 states for an instagram carousel post: Alabama, California, North Carolina, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Nevada, Wisconsin, Florida. I also created coordinating email designs for each state that were sent out to customers who resided in those states, ensuring that the upper banner for each email coordinated with the illustrations while also tying back to the Minted brand.
* Note: New Mexico and Florida were not included in the final post, as we discovered the registration deadlines for these states had already passed.
